Following in the footsteps of many family members, Jim began his career as a Goldsmith in 1975. The jewelry business has been in his family for years. His great grandfather owned a jewelry store in Syracuse, Nebraska and 3 of his great uncles each owned jewelry stores, also in Nebraska. Jim’s father,
Wayne Driver, is a Master Watch Maker, and was the manager of a jewelry store in Vienna, Va. for over 40 years.
Jim attended trade school at B and C Jewelers in Alexandria, Va. Upon completion, he worked for Fairfax Jewelers and later for Bailey Banks and Biddle. In 1984 he decided to branch out on his own and started Driver’s Jewelry Repair. His quality work, drive for perfection and trustworthiness quickly took him from one store account to having as many as 18 different stores at one time. He has done jewelry repair and design for Zales, Shaw’s, and Friedman’s to name a few, as well as many independent jewelry stores. Jim’s name and reputation is known all along the Eastern United States. He has had accounts as far away as Florida and North Carolina.
After 24 years in wholesale, Jim and Erin decided to open Warrenton Jewelers, in the town they have come to call home, Warrenton Virginia. Prior to becoming Jim’s partner in Driver’s Jewelry Repair, Erin, too, worked at Bailey Banks and Biddle, as a salesperson. She will bring her experience and knowledge to Warrenton Jewelers.
